The Cane River Baptist Church Cemetery
The Cane River Baptist Church Cemetery (also known as the Murphy Cemetery) is located on the outskirts of Natchitoches amid the river farmlands of the Cane River on Woodyard Drive (locally known as Fish Hatchery Road). There are thirty-five marked, inscribed burials along with several broken and illegible markers. Only a few of the tombstones are new; most are old and of interesting variety.
The live oak tree in the center of the cemetery has been designated the Robert Calvert Murphy Oak by the Live Oak Society of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation. The girth of the tree was 13.08 feet when it was registered in 2016.
